Volunteers for the Moor

If you can give a bit of time and energy, there are countless ways to get involved with great people and projects all over Exmoor. Contact us or the Exmoor Volunteer Partnership for ideas and events.

The Heart of Exmoor is promoting different ways to volunteer and we have invested in skills training to help people like you to get involved and stay involved with Exmoor’s moorland.

Summary
Volunteering is at the heart of our work. Volunteers make a huge contribution towards the conservation of Exmoor’s Moorland and encouraging public enjoyment and understanding.  The volunteer team who are custodians of the Simonsbath Sawmill are a very good example of this. This project is designed to facilitate the work of volunteers through and support and training, this has ranged from Walk Leader certification, plant ID to dry stone walling. In three years from 2011 – 2013 over 15, 000 hours have been contributed, valued at over £182,000.

To see current opportunities for volunteers please visit the Exmoor Volunteer Partnership’s programme of activities and tasks.

In addition to the Heritage Lottery Fund, this particular project has money from the ENPA CareMoor Fund.
