The Moorland Classroom

The Moorland Classroom project supports school visits to moorland and related educational activities. David Rolls, our Moorland Education and Outreach Officer, works closely with various organisations and particularly the Greater Exmoor Environmental Education Forum to provide unforgettable learning experiences both in the classroom and on Exmoor National Park. The project has now engaged with all over 5500 pupils since commencing in 2011.

In addition to the Heritage Lottery Fund, this particular project has funding from the Exmoor Trust, who gave £10,000 and also from the Exmoor National Park Sustainable Development Fund.

As part of our work we have developed FREE online teaching resources for the Moorland Classroom. They are cross-curricular and appropriate for students from upper Key Stage 1 to lower Key Stage 3.  We are currently developing additional resources for Key Stage 3 and above. If you would like to assist in the piloting of these and hear how we can support with travel costs please get in touch.

If you would like to know more about any aspect of this project, please contact David Rolls.
