Community engagement activities are a big part of Heart of Exmoor. This project offer opportunities to experience Exmoor’s moorland for people from under-represented sections of the Devon and Somerset population.
Summary
The aim of this Project is to help minimise the barriers to visiting moorland that some people, particularly those with disabilities, might face. The Moorland Education Officer will establish contact with disability groups and build appropriate opportunities into the programme of events and activities. A specific task will be to ensure that at least four of the moorland guided walks organised each year are suitable for people using all terrain wheelchairs. A budget of £11,600 is available for promotion and equipment.
In addition to the Heritage Lottery Fund, project funders include the ENPA Sustainable Development Fund.
