Through this project, the Partnership will provide money to help pay for 3 new Moorkeeper jobs. Through supporting moorland management and community engagement, the Moorkeepers will benefit farmers and the wider community
Summary
The Scheme Manager will develop this innovative pilot initiative to employ three local people to act as part-time Moorkeepers. The Moorkeepers will help in a range of activities to support the conservation management of moorland and its enjoyment by the public. This will include helping with controlled moorland burning, running guided walks, and providing advice and support for moorland users.
In addition to money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, this particular project is generously supported by European funding through Western Somerset Local Action (WSLA) and Leader for Torridge and North Devon (L4TND).
